Two costly turnovers in loss
Shapen was 19-for-33 passing for 199 yards and two interceptions during Saturday's 49-27 defeat versus Missouri. He also had 17 rushes for 16 yards with two touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
The senior quarterback added value with his legs via two rushing scores, but his passing production lagged and the two picks were costly. He now has to face a midseason rut through the air while his ground game remains a key strength. Moving forward, Shapen will need to improve his decision-making to help get the Bulldogs back on track. Next, they will face Ole Miss on Nov. 28.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Shapen enters a new season as the Bears’ anointed starter and his anticipated improvement will be crucial to Baylor recovering from an underwhelming 6-7 record during the 2022 season. In 19 games of action, Shapen has shown that he can take over a game (four instances of at least three touchdowns), however, he’s also struggled with accuracy while completing just 63.6 percent of his passes last year. There’s room for optimism with Shapen as he averaged 7.58 yards per attempt (YPA) last year which ranked seventh in the conference among quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts. The junior will also benefit from the return of seven offensive starters as well as a nice compliment of proven running backs and wide receivers. If Shapen does not play well, Baylor does have another option in Mississippi State transfer Sawyer Robertson. Shapen beat out Robertson this spring and with the Bears vying to be a Big 12 Title Contender, he should play a pivotal role for an above average team.
