Headed NFL
Zappe announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he'll forgo his remaining eligibility at Western Kentucky to enter the 2022 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Zappe's decision to leave school comes as little surprise following a record-setting 2021 campaign -- his lone season at the FBS level -- in which he threw for 5,967 yards and 62 touchdowns while completing 69.1 percent of his passes. He checks in at 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds and will take an impressive resume to the NFL level, though he played just one season at the FBS level after joining Western Kentucky as a transfer from FCS Houston Baptist this past offseason. The 2022 class doesn't appear to have many high-end options at quarterback compared to years past, so Zappe has a chance to work his way up draft boards should he impress during the pre-draft process.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
It’s not often that an FCS transfer at a small program gets the type of buzz that Zappe is generating in the fantasy community. The former Houston Baptist signal caller lit it up against FBS competition last season, throwing for 1,453 yards with a 12:1 TD:INT in three outings. At 6-2, 215, Zappe has the frame and arm strength to make the transition up to this level and have success, plus Western Kentucky added his former offensive coordinator to the staff, which should help him acclimate. Zappe can come in and be an impact fantasy quarterback right away.
