2024 Fantasy Outlook
Gone is star quarterback Drake Maye, leaving a gaping void under center for the Tar Heels, but there are two capable replacements vying for the job in Conner Harrell and Texas A&M transfer Max Johnson. Regardless of who emerges to claim the job, Nesbit seems like a clear playmaker as a receiver in the tight end room. While his production fluctuated throughout the year, and John Copenhaver remains on hand to siphon away a few looks here and there, Nesbit asserted himself toward the end of the 2023 campaign, totaling 31 targets over the final four games and turning them into 18 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown. Coming off back-to-back years with more than 500 yards receiving, there's certainly reason to get excited about the potential for Nesbit to take another step forward in 2024 as a safety valve for the new signal-caller in Chapel Hill. Out for regular-season finale
Nesbit (wrist) is out for the Tar Heels' game Saturday against North Carolina State, Rivals.com reports.
ANALYSIS
About a month and a half was not enough for Nesbit to announce he would undergo surgery and recover from it in time before the 2024 Tar Heels ended their regular season. Ideally for him, they still win their rivalry game against North Carolina State and qualify a bowl game, which would extend his potential availability for this year by at least one more matchup.
