2016 Fantasy Outlook
As the change of pace back in Tennessee’s powerful run offense, Kamara thrived in his first full season as a Volunteer. Behind Jalen Hurd, Kamara was a pass catching weapon out of the backfield by finishing second on the team in receptions with 34 and he tied for first in touchdown receptions with three. And although Hurd gets the bulk of the carries, Kamara was a true slasher when given the chance as a ball carrier. He racked up nearly 700 yards (698) on just 107 carries, averaging out to a crisp 6.5 yards per carry. Kamara’s overall production may not take the type of leap that some second year players tend to experience (Kamara is actually a JUCO transfer and a senior by years removed from high school), but his role as a key cog in the Tennessee offense that likes the short passing game isn’t going anywhere. Kamara will be especially valuable in PPR formats given that he could very well be Tennessee’s second-leading receiver again, but his lack of redzone opportunities as a ball carrier limits him in standard formats.
