Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Lazard very well could have entered this year's draft on the strength of a 69-catch, 1,018-yard season that included seven touchdowns. At 6-5, 223, he has the impressive catch radius and physical traits to dominate Big 12 corners. The issue with some of Lazard's ceiling stems from a lack of surrounding talent. If quarterback Jacob Park takes a step forward this year and Deshaunte Jones improves as the No. 2 option, it will open things up for Lazard. He may not top last year's production by much, but he's at least a safe bet to repeat as a 1,000-yard receiver.
Lazard may not be a household name yet, but the 6-5 junior is getting some recognition already with his placement on the preseason first team All Big XII list. Despite playing in a plodding system that had an unsettled situation at QB, Lazard still managed to finish sixth in the conference in yards per game (73.4) and fifth in receptions per game (5.1). Down the stretch, Lazard began to show a strong rapport with new quarterback Joel Lanning, who returns this fall as the incumbent starter. He averaged just under six receptions per game once Lanning took over as the starter. This year, the Lanning-Lazard connection should be even more explosive given their on-field chemistry in addition to a new offense. Physically, Lazard has the size and athleticism to dominate Big XII competition and now that he has two years of starting experience under his belt and an improved quarterback at his disposal, he very well could push for 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in what could be his last season before jumping for the NFL.
