Daniel Beale News: Backup to start season

Beale will back up quarterback Walker Howard for Louisiana-Lafayette's season opener against Rice, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

Beale was competing for the starting quarterback role during spring and fall camp, but he'll start out the season as the QB2. The second-year field general is incoming his redshirt freshman year, so he'll still have plenty of time to make an impact with the Cajuns even if he doesn't get to see the field this upcoming season.
