Rourke completed 27 of 36 passes for 324 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions while adding five rushes for 54 yards in the Lions' 31-14 win over the Elks on Saturday.

ANALYSIS
Rourke clearly showed the effects of rust stemming from having been away from the CFL for over a year when he returned from an NFL sojourn midway through last season. However, a full offseason was expected to lead to the talented signal-caller bouncing back, and after a relatively quiet first half Saturday, Rourke snapped back into the form he'd frequently demonstrated during the 2022 campaign that had earned him an opportunity at the highest level. The Ohio product got the second half off to a fast start with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Stanley Berryhill with just over 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter and connected again with the veteran receiver nearly nine minutes of game time later via a 35-yard scoring toss. Rourke would cap his TD haul off with a 15-yard strike to Justin McInnis early in the final period, and by night's end, he'd authored his first 300-yard performance since Week 14 of last season. Rourke will look to replicate his very encouraging season-opening showing when the Lions visit the Blue Bombers for a Week 2 Thursday night clash.
