2024 Tournament PreviewAfter finishing fourth in the MEAC, a short-handed Howard took down the conference tournament and is headed to the Big Dance for the second consecutive season. The Bison are strong at the 3-point line, ranking 19th in the nation. Junior Bryce Harris (16.6 ppg, 7.6 rpg) is the leading scorer, but junior Marcus Dockery (13.7 ppg) is the best long-distance shooter at 41.2 percent. In the paint is 6-9 senior Seth Towns (14.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg), who started his career in 2016-17 with stops at Harvard and Ohio State. But the Bison fail to protect the ball (357th in turnover rate) and fail to slow the opposition, ranking 334th in KenPom's defensive efficiency metric, despite a relatively soft schedule. Howard will need the depth provided by 6-6 forward Shy Odom and 6-9 forward Dom Campbell to get out of the West Region 16-seed play-in game after both missed the conference tourney with injuries.
