Gizzi is out with a broken foot and could miss the start of the 2025-26 season, head coach Niko Medved told Ryan James of 247Sports.com. "He broke his foot right at the end of the summer. He had surgery. We are probably looking at another six weeks or so before we get him back."
ANALYSIS
Gizzi was one of the standouts in practice for the Gophers after transferring from Marian University and Huntington University in the NAIA in recent years. The fact that he's still five or six weeks away from returning means there's a realistic chance that he won't be available for the start of the campaign, though that's still to be determined. When he's healthy, though, Gizzi should have a decent role off the bench as a backup point guard behind Chansey Willis and Langston Reynolds.
