Head coach Nate Oats said at SEC media days that Philon is "banged up" and didn't practice Tuesday, Mike Rodak of 247Sports.com reports.

Philon is slated to step into a featured role with the Crimson Tide this season. However, he looks to be tending to a minor injury just a few weeks out from the regular season. Alabama faces Florida State in an exhibition match Thursday, at which point we should learn more about Philon's health. At this point, it doesn't look like his availability for Alabama's regular-season opener against North Dakota on Nov. 3 is in jeopardy.
