Going back to Ohio State
Thornton is going back to Ohio State for the team's 2024-25 season, per his announcement Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Instead of entering the NBA Draft or NCAA's transfer portal, Thornton will enroll at Ohio State for a third season. Between his freshman and sophomore years, he showed significant improvement. While his field goal and three-point percentages slightly dipped, they were easily compensated for by an overall increase in scoring, as Thornton's point average went up from 10.6 to 15.7 across 35 games started. Most of the sophomore's other rates also improved during his second season. These include assists (4.8), rebounds (3.7), three-pointers made (1.7) and steals (1.2).
