Smith wasn't the most efficient from the field, but he hit 20 points for the first time since March 4. The Big Ten Player of the Year was also involved as a facilitator, as usual, dishing out six assists while collecting two steals. Though this one was a little closer for comfort than Purdue likely wanted, the point guard helped the Boilermakers control the pace and lead nearly wire-to-wire. Smith and Purdue will face the winner of Clemson versus McNeese State in the Round of 32.
