This article is part of our FanDuel College Basketball series.
Sunday's FanDuel slate features just an eight-team player pool, which figures to lead to heavy ownership on any obvious value plays. Cashing in a tournament will require a handful of gambles while making sure you're studs are rock solid.
The slate tips off at 2:00 p.m. EST and includes the following games:
VCU vs. Florida State
Davidson at North Carolina
Vanderbilt at Baylor
Long Beach State at UCLA
Guards
Ahmed Hamdy, VCU vs. Florida State ($5,200)
Hamdy is clearly mislabeled, as he is a 6-foot-9, 230-pound power forward. He's been very productive despite rarely playing more than 15 minutes, having scored at least eight points every game this season while adding at least five boards in four straight. It's all resulted in at least 16 fantasy points in four straight, making him a nice bargain against the guard heavy 'Noles.
Allerik Freeman, Baylor vs. Vanderbilt ($6,300)
Its possible Freeman is underpriced simply due to his last outing, a seven-point, three-rebound effort against Prairie View. Prior to that outing, Freeman scored at least 26.3 fantasy points in four straight games while topping 30 three times.
Forwards
Boris Bojanovski, Florida State vs. VCU ($5,600)
Bojanovski has averaged 31.5 minutes in his last two games after playing more than 20 minutes just once in his first four. He's coming off his first double-double of the season and has scored in double-digits in four of his last five. Just realize there is some risk in Bojanovski, as his 7-foot-3 frame could be lost in the pace of the game, especially if the Rams can exert their will with a full-court press.
Gabe Levin, Long Beach State at UCLA ($5,700)
Levin's vice thus far has been fouls, as he's had four fouls in four games. When on the court, he's been solid, grabbing at least seven rebounds five times while scoring at least 11 points in three of his last five games. This feels like a letdown situation for the Bruins after knocking off Kentucky, which could bode well for a host of 49ers.
For entertainment purposes, I entered this lineup into the $1K Press tournament, which costs me a buck and can net me up to $100.
F – Dwayne Bacon, FSU - $7,300
F – Brice Johnson, North Carolina - $8,100
F – Justin Jackson, North Carolina - $8,300
F – Ish Wainwright, Baylor - $4900
F – Matthew Fisher-Davis, Vanderbilt - $5,200
G – Ahmed Hamdy, $5,200, VCU -$5,200
G – Allerick Freeman, Baylor - $6,300
G – JeQuan Lews, VCU - $5,900
G – Jack Gibbs, Davidson - $8,800
I really like Levin, but wasn't able to squeeze him in. Bacon being forward eligible was exciting, while the UNC pairing gives me some upside (Jackson) with stability (Johnson). And as a Tar Heel watcher, I know they enjoy giving up points in bunches to opposing guards, seemingly setting Gibbs up for another eye-opening performance.
