Miller (wrist) made one appearance for the Hornets in the Las Vegas Summer League, producing 23 points (7-16 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes in a 94-90 win over the Knicks on July 13.
ANALYSISMiller missed the final game of his rookie season April 14 due to a right wrist injury, but his offseason training program doesn't seem to have been affected by the issue. Though the Hornets included him on their Summer League roster, Miller dazzled in his lone appearance before the coaching staff determined it had seen enough from the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, who is locked into a prominent role on the wing heading into his second season. Miller averaged 17.3 points on 44 percent shooting from the field and 37.3 percent shooting from distance over 74 games for the Hornets in 2023-24, but even if he raises his efficiency in Year 2, he may not be in store for a substantial uptick in his scoring.
LaMelo Ball (ankle) was limited to just 22 games a season ago, but if the star point guard enjoys better health during the 2024-25 campaign, Miller would likely rank as the Hornets' third option behind Ball and
Miles Bridges.
