Martinez missed a few days of spring training after he was hit by a fastball Monday, but he returned to action Thursday. The infielder slashed .320/.393/.480 with one home run across 28 plate appearances in Grapefruit League play. At Triple-A Buffalo, the 23-year-old will play on an everyday basis and will wait for another opportunity in the big leagues after he played in just one game for Toronto last June before being handed an 80-game suspension for violating MLB's drug prevention and treatment program.
