2025 Fantasy Outlook
As of late July, it appears that the starting power forward spot for Boston is a competition between Hauser and Chris Boucher. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. This, of course, is due to the Achilles injury suffered by star Jayson Tatum back in May. Tatum is out for all of 2025-26, leaving a massive void at the power forward spot. And the situation could be made worse with the retirement of veteran Al Horford. Over four seasons, Hauser averaged 18.5 minutes per game and has only started in 40 out of 256 NBA game appearances (16%). Boucher has been coming off the bench for the past eight years in Toronto. Considering Hauser's experience within Coach Joe Mazzulla's system, Hauser probably has the edge. But at 6-foot-8 and a career average of only 2.9 rebounds per game, Hauser is not a prototypical power forward. Over his career, the bulk of Hauser's minutes have come at the wing. Regardless, considering the dearth of "big" options on the Boston roster, Hauser should see an improvement over the 22 minutes per game he's averaged over the past two seasons. More minutes should produce a slight uptick in most counting categories. In what might be a "bridge season" for the Celtics, 2025-26 could be the brightest opportunity in the 27-year-old's career. Drills another five triples
Hauser closed Wednesday's 119-104 win over the Pacers with 17 points (6-8 FG, 5-7 3Pt), six rebounds and three assists across 28 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Hauser stayed scorching hot from downtown Wednesday, drilling five three-pointers on seven attempts. The 28-year-old forward's 19 made triples over the last three games are the most by a Celtic since Hauser hit 21 over a three-game span during the 2023-2024 season. Since entering the starting lineup Jan. 3, Hauser is averaging 14.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 threes, 1.8 assists and 0.7 steals over 27.9 minutes per outing.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
The departure of Grant Williams to the Mavericks creates the opportunity, slightly, for Hauser to see more playing time for the Celtics. The wing appeared in 80 games for Boston last year, his second year with the club. At 16.1 minutes per contest, Hauser proved his G League days were behind him. The three-point specialist shot a blistering 41.8 percent from behind the arc and demonstrated improved defensive abilities. Despite his 6-foot-8 frame, he was undersized during his occasional stints at power forward. Big minutes for new teammate Kristaps Porzingis should limit Hauser to just wing duties. He's behind Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Lamar Stevens and probably Oshae Brissett on the wing pecking order, but again has a chance to play in 75-plus games, if healthy. The 25-year-old will need a few injuries on the depth chart to exceed last year's minutes per game. Fantasy-wise, Hauser will provide a boost in three-pointers, but little else, for teams in very deep leagues. Otherwise, he's waiver-wire fodder.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Making defensive impact
Hauser has been making an impact on defense for the Celtics since returning to the starting lineup earlier this month, according to Brian Robb of MassLive. "I think everyone always sees Sam's shooting," head coach Mazzulla said, "but his defense is top-notch, and he has the ability to focus on a guy and take tendencies, and I thought he was great defensively."
ANALYSIS
Hauser won't play against the Spurs on Saturday due to hamstring tightness, but his head coach praised him for his efforts on both ends of the court. Hauser is thriving defensively, but most of his value will come on offense as a shooter. Hauser is averaging 9.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 42.4 percent from three in nine games as a starter in 2025-26.
