Kleber was limited to just 34 games during the 2024-25 season, with injuries continuing to be a theme for the big man. Following a midseason trade to the Lakers, Kleber didn't touch the floor until the postseason, albeit in a very limited role. With newly acquired Deandre Ayton slated to start and play heavy minutes, Kleber is likely going to battle for the backup role with the likes of Jaxson Hayes and Jarred Vanderbilt. Despite being arguably the best option in terms of floor spacing, there is a very real chance Kleber won't be in the rotation as a consistent piece. Read Past Outlooks

Will miss preseason opener
Kleber (quad) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Suns, Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Timesreports.
ANALYSIS
Kleber suffered a quad injury during Tuesday's practice, which is a concerning sign for the team after he played only one playoff game with the Lakers following his trade from Dallas to Los Angeles. However, it doesn't appear to be a severe injury that will keep him sidelined for long, following promising MRI results.

Kleber made only 43 regular-season appearances during the 2023-24 season, averaging just 20.3 minutes per game, the fewest he has played since his rookie season. He basically put up career-low numbers across the board, posting 4.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and 0.7 three-pointers. The addition of Daniel Gafford and the ascension of Dereck Lively saw Kleber used sparingly down the stretch, serving as purely a backup four. That trend should continue this season, which could result in Kleber's playing time dipping to closer to 15 minutes per game. His ability to spread the floor should ensure he sticks in the rotation, but for fantasy, managers can safely ignore him in essentially every format.

Lakers believe in him
The Lakers still have high hopes for Kleber, Dan Woike of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Although the Lakers acquired Deandre Ayton and re-signed Jaxson Hayes, both players have similar play styles. Meanwhile, Kleber is a stretch five, and that's the type of player the Lakers have long coveted. He had trouble staying healthy last season, but Woike reports that he's faring much better this offseason after putting his foot issues behind him. Kleber, who is a career 35.4 percent shooter from beyond the arc, could challenge Hayes for the backup center minutes.
