Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Luke Jacob Travers was born in September of 2001 in Perth, Australia. He is the son of Karl and Sam, and he has an older brother and a sister. Travers attended Willetton Senior High School in Perth and began playing in the State Basketball League for the Rockingham Flames as a junior in 2017. His role increased in 2018, notably averaging 14.7 points per game during the 2-1 semi-final series loss to the Perry Lakes Hawks. Also in 2018, Travers played in the U17 FIBA World Cup in Argentina and won gold at the U16 FIBA Asia Championship in China, where he was named to the All-Tournament Second Team. Travers posted 22 points, eight boards, three assists, four steals and two blocks in the title-clinching win over China. In 2019, he was named SBL Most Improved Player behind 11.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest. Joining the Perth Wildcats, Travers turned pro in 2019-20 over interest from colleges in the United States, playing four games in his rookie year. His role increased in 2020-21, starting 20 of 40 games and averaging 4.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 12.4 minutes. In 2021-22, he played 22 minutes per game and averaged 7.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Travers entered that season as the 83rd-ranked player in ESPN's top 100 NBA draft rankings. He declared for the 2022 NBA Draft on April 24, 2022 and was selected 56th overall by the Cavaliers.

Out with illness

Illness
February 1, 2026
Travers was sidelined in Saturday's 114-104 G League loss to the Motor City Cruise due to illness.
ANALYSIS
Travers missed his chance to feature again after coming off the bench in his previous four outings for the Charge. Having been waived by the Cavaliers, the Austrailan may find more opportunities to produce in the G League if he makes a quick recovery, but it's also possible that he'll leave to try his luck overseas. During the current G League season, he's averaging 17.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Future remains unclear
FCleveland Charge   G League (Cavaliers)
August 10, 2024
Travers has yet to decide where he'll play in the 2024-25 season, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
ANALYSIS
Tavares decided to leave Melbourne United to pursue other professional opportunities this offseason, and the Cavaliers played a role in that decision. The plan for Travers remains in the air, as signing him to a two-way contract remains a logical alternative, but the organization wants to explore all the potential avenues. A move to Europe could be in the cards as well, as he'd have a bigger role overseas than in the NBA.
