Kyshawn George

Kyshawn George

21-Year-Old ForwardF
Washington Wizards
2024 Fantasy Outlook
George averaged 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game as a freshman at Miami and was selected by the Wizards with the 24th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. George can play either as a shooting guard or a small forward, but even if he landed in an excellent situation in a rebuilding franchise in Washington, he faces a steep ahead of him to garner consistent minutes as part of the rotation. George is raw, and while he might have some upside in dynasty formats, he's someone fantasy managers should avoid in standard leagues, even in the deepest ones. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

When George signed with Miami, he stood at 6-foot-5, but the 20-year-old has grown several inches since his 2022-23 campaign with Élan Chalon of the French Pro B League. George was born and raised in Monthey, Switzerland and won FIBA's U16 Euro Championship B in 2019. George's father, Deon, is from Canada and played basketball professionally in Switzerland. It's a relevant red flag that George logged just three dunks across 713 minutes of action, as the 6-foot-7 guard continuing to develop as a finisher would be strongly reinforced with an above-the-rim style. Even still, converting 58.5% of his attempts alongside a potent 42.7% clip off 96 catch-and-shoot 3s creates multi-level scoring upside. George has deep range, advantageous size to release his shot and a handle to create separation at will. Development is needed, however. Among all players with at least 50 pick-and-roll ball handler possessions, George turned the ball over 26.9 percent of the time to rank 835th out of 884 qualifiers. He had similar struggles taking care of the rock and making decisions in transition, but his physical profile and shooting touch are huge pillars to work from. George is not an on-ball hound defensively, but he was a critical component of Miami's defense -with the Hurricanes performing 10.8 points better with George on the court and ranking in the 82nd percentile nationwide in defensive rating during those minutes. George will need additional reps as a ballhandler to adjust to next-level pressure, gain experience orchestrating offense, clean up his handle and capitalize on creating advantages in traffic. Even without the additional reps, George's blend of size and rhythm is rare for a 20-year-old. Becoming an off-ball sniper and second-side weapon in the NBA, such as Amir Coffey, is a projectable outcome barring serious growth as a lead guard.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be target for Phoenix
FFree Agent
June 13, 2024
George could be one of the options the Suns might target with their first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Gerald Bourguet of PHNX Sports speculates.
ANALYSIS
The Suns hold the 22nd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and will be looking to add depth to their roster, as Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and Jusuf Nurkic are pretty much penciled in as part of their starting five for 2024-25. George could be one of the best players they might target in this year's class as a rookie who could contribute off the bench right away, as he averaged 7.6 points and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 40.8 percent from three-point range in his lone season with Miami. Plus, the fact that he grew up playing point guard until hitting a growth spurt suggests he has above-average vision and passing for a wing, particularly a rookie one.
