$Signed a one-year, $2.16 million contract with the Nets in July of 2024. Contract includes $2.35 million team option for 2025-26.
Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Johnson appeared in just 27 games (17 starts) for the Volunteers in his pandemic-shortened singular season of college basketball. While Johnson wasn't the team's top recruit on paper, he ended up serving as the primary small forward and making the SEC All-Freshman team. He and fellow freshman Jaden Springer led the team in scoring at 11.3 and 12.5 ppg respectively. Johnson also checked in at third on the Vols in assists at 2.5 APG, in addition to respectable averages of 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals. He did get a taste of NCAA Tournament experience, but Tennessee fell in the opening round to an Oregon State team that eventually landed in the Final Four. Still, Johnson's scoring was at its best down the final stretch, as the 6-5 wing averaged 16.8 ppg over the season's last five games.

Johnson chipped in 22 points (8-20 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 29 minutes during Sunday's 122-114 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS Johnson built off the 21-point performance he had against the Celtics on Saturday in the first leg of this back-to-back set, finishing just three points away from tying his best scoring output of the campaign Sunday. This was Johnson's ninth game with at least 20 points this season -- eight of them have come since the beginning of January.

Johnson has yet to establish himself as a viable commodity in the NBA, having spent two seasons playing limited minutes in Portland. Unfortunately, he suffered a dislocated finger in the opening game of the 2023 Summer League, prematurely ending his tournament. Johnson was then traded to the Suns this offseason as part of a blockbuster deal that landed Damian Lillard in Milwaukee. Johnson is still a raw prospect and likely won't handle a significant role to start 2023-24.
Johnson put together a strong finish to his rookie season and followed it up with an impressive Summer League. During said tournament, he averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 31 minutes per game. The Trail Blazers appear as though they are going to push for a playoff spot this season, meaning Johnson could be pasted to the bench on most nights. However, if he manages to land a few extra minutes as the season progresses, he could at least be a name to watch in deeper formats.
Johnson was the 21st overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, heading to the Clippers. He's an explosive athlete with a defensively-tilted skillset. He'll need to become a better three-point shooter and playmaker to maximize his talent at the NBA level. He's not expected to be an every-game player for the Clippers this season.

Thriving of late
GBrooklyn Nets
January 7, 2025
Johnson has averaged 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 19 games for Brooklyn since Nov. 25, according to Bridget Reilly of The New York Post.
ANALYSIS Johnson has been thriving of late, and he's embracing the opportunities he's had to see a more consistent role. That's not likely to be the case over the course of the entire season, though. He's widely expected to return to a bench role once the Nets get healthier, as they're currently missing Cam Thomas, Ben Simmons and Cameron Johnson due to injuries.
