Jay Scrubb

Scrubb was born Sep. 1, 2000 in Louisville, Kentucky. He grew up on the west end of Louisville and rooted for his hometown college team, the Louisville Cardinals. From his sophomore year in high school onward, he attended Trinity High School, which is a prep school in Louisville. He grew from 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-8 between his sophomore and junior years. Scrubb was voted Seventh Region Player of the Year during both his junior and senior seasons and was a finalist for the Kentucky Mr. Basketball award as a senior. He played college basketball for John A. Logan College -- a junior college in Carterville, Illinois. In his time there, he racked up multiple player of the year awards. After his sophomore season, he declared for the NBA Draft and was selected in the second round. Scrubb attended John A. Logan junior college for two seasons. As a freshman, he was named a First Team JUCO All-American, averaging 19.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals. He shot 54.9 percent from the field, 46.4 percent from three and 79.1 percent from the free-throw line. The following season, Scrubb was voted NABC NJCAA Player of the Year. He averaged 21.9 points on 50.1 percent shooting from the field, 33.3 percent from three and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals.
