Jake LaRavia

24-Year-Old ForwardF
Los Angeles Lakers
2025 Fantasy Outlook
LaRavia joined the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-year pact over the summer after splitting his 2024-25 campaign between the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings. He's currently listed as the backup to starter Rui Hachimura at small forward, adding some size and shooting to the second unit alongside Gabe Vincent, Marcus Smart and Jarred Vanderbilt. Last season, LaRavia appeared in 66 games, marking a notable improvement for the 23-year-old following two consecutive years where he managed to suit up for just 35 outings each in 2022-23 and 2023-24. In 20.4 minutes a night, the former first-round pick averaged 6.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.9 steals on 47.5/42.3/67.8 shooting splits. LaRavia should see a similar workload during his debut season in LA, but the Wake Forest product won't offer much value to fantasy managers due to a star-studded roster consisting of LeBron James, Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves and Deandre Ayton. He can be left on the waiver wire for now until further notice, but keep an eye on Hachimura, a player who has battled several minor injuries throughout his six professional campaigns. Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

LaRavia was born on Nov. 3, 2001, in Pasadena, California. His family moved from sunny Pasadena to Indianapolis when LaRavia was six years old. He played basketball for Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. He had a limited role until his senior season, in which he became the team's leading scorer, averaging 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game. He earned Indiana All-Star honors and helped Lawrence Central win its first sectional title since 2012. LaRavia first committed to playing college basketball for SIU Edwardsville but reopened his recruitment after a coaching change. He later committed to Indiana State. As a freshman at Indiana State, LaRavia averaged 9.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He was named to the All-Newcomer and All-Freshman Teams in the Missouri Valley Conference. In his sophomore season, LaRavia averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, earning second-team All-MVC recognition. Following the departure of coach Greg Lansing, LaRavia transferred to Wake Forest. He averaged 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game as a junior. He was named to the second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference. On March 29, 2022, LaRavia declared for the 2022 NBA draft while maintaining his college eligibility. On June 1, 2022, he announced that he would remain in the draft and forgo his remaining college eligibility. He was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 19th overall pick.

Puts up 10 points off bench
FLos Angeles Lakers
December 1, 2025
LaRavia chipped in 10 points (4-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one block over 26 minutes during Sunday's 133-121 victory over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
LaRavia has shown the ability to produce in an increased role, but he definitely needs to work on his efficiency. In his last six games (one start), he averages 6.5 points on just 35.7 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three. With LeBron James (foot) and Marcus Smart (back) potentially slated to return Monday against Phoenix, LaRavia will likely revert to playing around 14-20 minutes per game.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
After being taken with the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, LaRavia was used sparingly during his rookie season. He made just 35 appearances, logging 11.8 minutes per game, during which he averaged 3.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 three-pointers. Although the Grizzlies are not particularly deep at the power forward position, LaRavia is likely going to struggle to play more than 18 minutes this season. David Roddy and Santi Aldama have both demonstrated more on the court than LaRavia in their limited minutes, while Kenneth Lofton also lies waiting for his opportunity. Barring a string of injuries to other players, LaRavia is not someone managers need to be considering outside of very deep leagues.
After two seasons at Indiana State, LaRavia transferred to Wake Forest for his junior and final collegiate season. He averaged 14.6 points on 56/38/78 shooting, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 combined steals-plus-blocks in his lone campaign with the Demon Deacons. The 6-foot-7 forward was selected with the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and went to the Grizzlies. There are questions about his ability to be a successful playmaker at the NBA level, for himself or others, but he did so effectively in his college system. He can cut, pass and make spot-up jumpers, and he's a solid defender with enough size to switch as a pro. With Jaren Jackson (foot) expected to be out for the first couple months of the season at least, LaRavia has an opportunity to make an impact immediately. He'll battle Brandon Clarke and Ziaire Williams for minutes at the four, but Memphis isn't an especially deep team.

Feeling good in LA
FLos Angeles Lakers
November 29, 2025
LaRavia revealed he's enjoying his time in Los Angeles in a recent interview with Mark Medina of Essentially Sports. "It's been great," LaRavia told Medina. "We have a great group of guys. Just to be able to play with AR, Luka and 'Bron has really been beneficial for me. It's a very exciting team. It's a great city. There are great fans. So the whole experience so far has been really good."
ANALYSIS
LaRavia has enjoyed a strong start to his Lakers tenure and is doing a good job off the bench, though his numbers have been trending in the wrong direction of late. He averaged 12.2 points per game over his first 10 games, but that figure has regressed to 5.8 points per game over his last eight contests. Either way, he seems to have a stable role off the bench and should remain a member of the rotation for the time being after joining the Lakers in free agency on a two-year, $12 million contract.
