2025 Fantasy Outlook
After being dealt from Atlanta to Cleveland at last season's deadline, Niang was traded two more times this offseason. First, he was acquired by Boston in the Kristaps Porzingis deal, then Niang was shipped to Utah in exchange for RJ Luis and a pair of second-round picks. The Jazz have a frontcourt logjam. With Ace Bailey, Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler the presumed starters, Niang will have to compete with Brice Sensabaugh, Cody Williams, Taylor Hendricks, Kyle Filipowski, Kyle Anderson, Kevin Love and KJ Martin for playing time. That's simply not a recipe for fantasy success. Niang has flirted with top-200 value in category leagues recently due to his three-point shot. He's made at least 40 percent in six of his last seven seasons, while attempting at least four per game in five straight. When his shot is falling, Niang can be an option for managers in category leagues who are chasing three-pointers, but outside of that, the veteran's fantasy value is limited. Read Past Outlooks
Absence extended
Niang will have his left foot injury re-evaluated by Jazz medical staff in 10-to-14 days, Ben Anderson of KSL News Salt Lake City reports.
ANALYSIS
Niang continues to recover from a left foot injury that he sustained during offseason training and conditioning. His extended absence means he won't make his 2025-26 regular-season debut until at least early December.

Despite being traded to Cleveland in the offseason, Niang figures to play a very similar role for his new team. Having never ranked inside the top 150 in standard leagues, Niang serves primarily as a floor-spacing depth piece. He played 78 games in the 2022-23 season, averaging 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.0 three-pointers in 19.4 minutes per night. Although the Cavaliers will need him on the floor, he will be competing with the recently-acquired Max Strus, as well as Isaac Okoro and Dean Wade. Now aged 30, Niang probably has the lowest ceiling of all those names, outside of possibly Wade. All things considered, Niang should be viewed as nothing more than a potential streaming candidate when in need of some quick perimeter production.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Not ready to return yet
Niang is working his way back from a stress reaction of the fourth metatarsal in his left foot and doesn't have a clear return date yet, the team announced Friday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran forward, who's yet to make his 2025-26 debut, is trending in the right direction but is not ready to play yet. He's expected to be re-evaluated in one week, but it sounds as if he might make his season debut at some point in late November or early December. When healthy, Niang should compete for minutes in the frontcourt.
