Cut from big-league camp
The Cardinals reassigned Rodriguez to minor-league camp Thursday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez had been attending camp as a non-roster invitee after re-signing with the Cardinals on a minor-league deal in November, but he ultimately fell short in his bid for a spot in St. Louis' Opening Day bullpen. The right-hander is still awaiting his first big-league appearance since 2014, when he saw action in two games with the Royals.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Nearing first MLB action since 2014
Manager Oliver Marmol said Rodriguez, who is on the 60-day injured list after undergoing shoulder surgery, will soon be activated and pitch for the Cardinals before the end of the season, reports John Denton of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
The 33-year-old was selected by the Cardinals during the Rule 5 Draft during the offseason but opened the campaign on the shelf with shoulder tightness and then underwent surgery in May. The organization could feasibly slow play his return but would rather see Rodriguez pitch in the big leagues down the stretch. The right-hander made his MLB debut with the Royals in 2014 but prior to this season hasn't pitched in affiliated baseball since 2015. Rodriguez has pitched well in his seven rehab outings with Triple-A Memphis, as he has a 6:2 K:BB over 5.2 scoreless innings.
