Healthy for camp
Brown (undisclosed), who didn't appear in any minor-league games after Aug. 2 last season, is a "full go" for spring training, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old Brown remains a prospect of some repute, but his stock seems to have fallen after injuries limited him to just 59 games in the minors during the 2023 season. After attending Giants camp as a non-roster invitee in 2023, Brown wasn't extended the same invitation in 2024, as the organization seemingly wants the outfielder to get extended reps in at minor-league camp following the injury-plagued campaign. Brown is expected to open the 2024 season at Double-A Richmond or Triple-A Sacramento.

James Anderson highlights the most noteworthy level assignments to start the 2023 minor-league season, including Rays phemon Junior Caminero getting the bump to High-A.
2023 Fantasy Outlook
A Division II draftee who got less than $10K out of the draft, Brown received three cautious assignments in a row to start his pro career and utterly dominated at each stop. Now, entering his age-24 season, he still won't be at an age-appropriate level when he heads to Double-A, and the age questions will linger until he has success at the highest level. Even so, Brown has real tools, registering a 34.2 Hard% while going 44-for-50 on stolen-base attempts. His aggressiveness and propensity to strikeout over a quarter of the time against lower-level pitching point to potential hit tool concerns down the road, and it should be noted that he ran a BABIP around .450 last year. We can acknowledge it could all stop working for Brown at Double-A, Triple-A or the majors while still accounting for the fact that if he gets all the way to a regular role in the big leagues, his fantasy appeal will be massive due to his 20/30 potential. The Giants haven't had many recent success stories in terms of homegrown position players, and given his age, Brown could be the first of the team's current top hitting prospects to help the big club. He has experience playing all three outfield spots.
