Moved to 60-day IL
The Marlins transferred Zuber (lat) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.
Analysis
Miami placed Zuber on the 15-day IL on Saturday after he was diagnosed with a right lat strain, and his move to the 60-day IL two days later confirms that he won't pitch again in 2025. The Marlins called up right-hander Luarbert Arias from Triple-A Jacksonville to replace Zuber on the 40-man roster.

Nearly retired in spring
Zuber, who was traded from the Rays to the Mets on Tuesday, was on the verge of retirement before signing with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League in the spring, reports Will Sammon of The Athletic.
Analysis
The right-hander had a 5.23 ERA at the Triple-A level last year and was cut loose by the Guardians at the end of spring training, and he almost hung up his cleats before signing with the Ducks. Zuber drew the attention of MLB teams during his brief stay with Long Island, drawing interest from the Mets before ultimately signing with the Rays. Zuber had a 2.49 ERA and 29:6 K:BB over 21.2 innings at the Triple-Durham, and the Mets spent the past couple weeks in pursuit of him before finally reaching a deal just ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. The 29-year-old was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse but should be up in New York before long to bolster its bullpen depth.
