Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
After eight-plus seasons in the minors and another year playing independent ball, Ferguson got his first taste of the big leagues last season at 30 years old. The right-hander demonstrated excellent strikeout prowess, fanning 105 batters across 79.2 innings between the Athletics (51.1 innings) and Triple-A Las Vegas (28.1 innings). Ferguson mixed five pitches effectively, but his 96 mph fastball (39 percent usage) was his put-away pitch. The Vanderbilt alum's 11.6 percent walk rate (10th percentile) and 8.4 percent barrel percentage allowed (35th percentile) were glaring blemishes, while his minor-league track record (4.87 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) suggests we should expect ratio regression in 2025. Still, Ferguson should open the season in high-leverage for the Athletics, likely in a setup role. Read Past Outlooks

Rejoins big-league bullpen
The Athletics recalled Ferguson from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Analysis
Ferguson was one of the club's better relievers last season, but he was sent down in June following a rough stretch in which he yielded 10 runs over four appearances. The 31-year-old seemed to get back on track at Las Vegas, permitting just one earned run with an 11:3 K:BB over 10 innings. Ferguson could pitch his way back into leveraged situations in an unsettled bullpen, though that probably won't happen right away.
