2025 Fantasy Outlook
Bliss got his feet wet at the major-league level in 2024, putting up just a .687 OPS but cranking a couple home runs and stealing five bases over 71 plate appearances. The 25-year-old reached the 50-steal plateau in the minors for the second straight year, and Bliss also has surprising pop for a guy of his stature with 23 long balls in 153 contests at the Triple-A level. Although he played only second base with the Mariners, Bliss is also capable of handling shortstop, third base and left field. Whether he'll have a role with the big club on Opening Day is not yet clear, but Bliss has some fantasy potential if he gets an opportunity, particularly in the stolen base department. The Mariners transferred Bliss (biceps) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Bliss is expected to miss up to five months after he underwent surgery Friday to repair a left biceps tear, so his move to the 60-day IL won't affect his timeline. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Ben Williamson, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma.

Stat Review
How does Ryan Bliss compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Seattle acquired Bliss in the four-player deal that shipped Paul Sewald to Arizona. The infielder scorched Double-A pitching to the tune of .358/.414/.594, and while he initially struggled in Triple-A, a hot finish allowed him to finish with an OPS of .822 in Tacoma over 226 plate appearances while finishing with 55 stolen bases for good measure. Despite a less-than-prototypical frame, Bliss has been able to tap into more power than expected when he was drafted with the 42nd pick in 2021, and he makes enough hard contact to all parts of the field to believe he can hit for a high average, as well. He isn't likely to make the Opening Day roster, but Bliss has a good chance of making his MLB debut in 2024, and there's certainly a chance for fantasy relevance in the coming seasons.
