2024 Fantasy Outlook
Due to injuries and the pandemic, White's had a slow path through the Rangers' system, but he appeared to be working toward a potential rotation spot in 2024 after a successful 2022 season. That trajectory continued over the first half of 2023 at Double-A Frisco - which included a stint in the All-Star Futures Game. Following a brief stay in the majors when Texas was in a mid-summer bullpen bind, White was returned to the minors and elevated to Triple-A Round Rock. That's where the wheels started to wobble. The strike-throwing right-hander experienced an increased walk rate and drop in strikeouts while pitching to a 4.99 ERA in 52.1 innings for the Express. A sparkling K:BB ratio of 4.52:1 in 2022 dropped to 1.45:1 in 2023 (1:1 in Triple-A). Adjusting to the sport's most advanced minor-league level is nothing new, so it shouldn't diminish White's prospect status until he has a second go with Round Rock. Read Past Outlooks
Dispatched to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned White to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
ANALYSIS
White made one appearance after coming up from the minors last week, during which he allowed two earned runs on three hits over two innings without recording a strikeout. He'll now be sent back to Triple-A in order to make room on the active roster for Jacob deGrom (elbow), who returned from the 60-day IL to start Friday's contest.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
White didn't pitch after July 13 last year due to a forearm injury, which is the main concern with him right now from a fantasy standpoint. When healthy, he showed that he is Texas' best pitching prospect, generating plenty of groundballs with a K-BB% over 22% at High-A and Double-A. White is an advanced strike thrower with four pitches, including a plus fastball and plus slider, but injuries have stunted his rise through the minors. The 80.1 innings he logged in 2022 marked a career high, and he turns 24 in August, so it's important for him to build on that total, rather than take another step back if this forearm issue pops back up. With excellent health, he could be ready to help the big-league rotation in 2024.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Chance to enter rotation?
According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, White could have an opportunity to start for the Rangers in the wake of Dane Dunning's shoulder injury and Nathan Eovaldi's groin issue.
ANALYSIS
Cody Bradford and Max Scherzer are also on the shelf with ribs and back injuries, respectively, leaving Texas with a severely depleted rotation. White made his MLB debut with two outings last season and allowed five runs over four innings, and he's struggled at Triple-A Round Rock this season with a 5.70 ERA through five starts. He's not likely to be a viable option for fantasy managers.
