2025 Fantasy Outlook
Chace was a known pitching prospect of interest as a member of the Orioles, but his prospect stock took off after he dominated for the Phillies after getting dealt at the deadline as part of the return for Gregory Soto. Even prior to the trade, Chace had been having success in shorter starts, and he had a 2.98 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 70:15 K:BB in 42.1 innings over 11 appearances from June 22 through the end of August. Chace didn't log five innings in any 2024 start until he threw five-plus innings in three of his final five starts of the year. The 21-year-old righty also made his Double-A debut after the trade, striking out 35 in 19.2 innings over four Double-A starts. His mid-90s fastball is an easy plus pitch due to it's strong movement, and he also throws a hard slider and a low-80s sweeper that grade as at least above-average offerings. His changeup is a clear fourth pitch and while his control was a weakness with Baltimore (13.5 BB% at High-A), he threw significantly more strikes after the trade (8.6 BB% at High-A, 9.1 BB% at Double-A). Chace's stuff gives him a high floor as a potential late-inning reliever, but the Phillies will do their best to develop him as a high-strikeout starter. His 80.1 innings in 2024 were a career high. ANALYSIS
Chace was acquired from the Orioles at the trade deadline in the deal that sent Gregory Soto to Baltimore. He's just 21 and has struggled to throw strikes with a career 14.5 percent walk rate, but Chace's 31.6 percent strikeout rate points to his upside.
