2025 Fantasy Outlook
The top pop-up prospect of 2024, Campbell slashed .329/.437/.551 with 20 home runs, 24 steals and a 20 percent strikeout rate in 115 games across the top three levels of the minor leagues. Selected with the No. 132 overall pick in 2023, Campbell signed for just under $500K and now he has a chance of winning a spot on the Opening Day roster in 2025. While Campbell received 25-plus starts at shortstop, center field and second base last year, it's pretty clear that second base is where he fits on this roster, where David Hamilton is the top incumbent and Vaughn Grissom also hopes to figure into things. Campbell has a much higher ceiling than Hamilton or Grissom and may not be a short-term downgrade, so it would make sense for the Red Sox to break camp with Campbell if they think he's ready, as he could net them a Prospect Promotion Incentive Pick. There aren't any obvious flaws with Campbell, although 2024 was his first year hitting for notable power -- he had a higher slugging percentage last year than he did at any stop as an amateur. If he looks like the same player in spring training, momentum will build in the redraft market, and he's already a locked in top-10 dynasty prospect. Read Past Outlooks

Will focus on first base in minors
Campbell will primarily focus on learning first base after being optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Campbell will still see some action at second base, but the Red Sox want the rookie to learn the nuances of first base, where he might have a clearer path to consistent playing time once he likely rejoins the big club later on this season. After making Boston's Opening Day roster, Campbell had made 54 of his 63 starts at the keystone, seven in the outfield and one at designated hitter. With Triston Casas (knee) out for the season and Rafael Devers shipped to San Francisco, Campbell will offer insurance at first base if the tandem of Abraham Toro and Romy Gonzalez ultimately see their production slow down. Before making a push to return to the majors, Campbell will also need to get his bat back on track with Worcester after he slashed just .176/.270/.231 over his last 30 MLB contests.
