2026 Fantasy Outlook
Deluca has a chance to make something of himself in 2026 as he is arguably the only player on the roster who can handle centerfield defensively on a regular basis. He looks like a natural out there while Chandler Simpson looks like he's playing kick returner on a windy day in the outfield, even on the calmest of days. Deluca was limited to 20 games played in 2025 due to a laundry list of injuries indlucing an acute shoulder sprain as a result of a diving catch early in the season. He eventually came back from that after some rehab setbacks, but then a hamstring injury in August and a quad strain in September ended his season. If Deluca's body can stop failing him at every turn, he has a chance to be an end-game value because his defense is going to keep him in the lineup and help him exceed his playing time projections. 20+ steals under Cash's lead foot is well within reach as Deluca swiped 6 bags in 20 games but the other categories will most likely be lacking. An interesting end-game play for steals as long as the rest of your roster can pick up the run production slack. Read Past Outlooks
Shifts to 60-day IL
The Rays transferred DeLuca (hamstring/quad) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
Analysis
DeLuca has already been ruled out for the rest of the year after suffering a right quad strain at Triple-A Durham, so the Rays will move him to the 60-day IL to free up a 40-man roster spot for Garrett Acton.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
DeLuca was part of the return in the Tyler Glasnow trade and could get a look as a regular for the Rays in 2025. He was mostly limited to short-side platoon work early in the year, but after the trade deadline, DeLuca was able to play regularly. He hit .299/.342/.430 with three home runs, seven steals and a 13.9 percent strikeout rate in 115 plate appearances as close to an everyday player for the Rays from mid-August on last year. He has 98th percentile sprint speed and is an elite defensive outfielder, and as things stand in late January, it looks like the Rays want to maximize his defense and speed in an everyday role. He'll hit near the bottom of the lineup, at least against righties, but DeLuca has the upside to provide a 15-homer/30-steal season with a decent batting average.
