Holds lead Saturday
Beeks threw a 1-2-3 eighth inning to record a hold in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Beeks needed seven pitches (five strikes) to mow down the top of Colorado's order and pick up his 10th hold before handing the ball off to closer Shelby Miller. Beeks has been money well spent by the Diamondbacks, who have navigated injuries and subpar performances in what was expected to be the late-game relief crew. He, Ryan Thompson and Miller have stepped in for Justin Martinez (elbow), A.J. Puk (elbow) and Kevin Ginkel (5.22 ERA). Beeks has a 2.97 ERA with 10 holds, one save and a 33:11 K:BB rate over 36.1 innings.

2018
Beeks made a full recovery from his late 2020 Tommy John Surgery and pitcked up right where he left off as both an opener as well as a bulk reliever in the middle innings. The changeup, which was rebuilt after his acquisition from Boston in 2018, is now his primary weapon and gives him three pitches with at least a 25% whiff rate on the season. His approach is simple as hitters are either seeing a zigzagging fastball or a fading changeup as Beeks lacks an effective pitch with a wrinkle. If reverse splits were a real thing, Beeks would be a poster child for that because that fastball/changeup approach allows him too be more effective against righties than the traditional lefty/lefty strength one would imagine he would have. Until he can figure out some type of breaking ball, his future is unlikely to change as he is just as likely to pitch the first inning of a game as he a late inning if the lineup is stacked with righties. His volume can help you with ratios and somewhat in strikeouts, but his utilization limits his abilities to earn decisions.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could generate trade interest
Beeks is one of the players the Diamondbacks might be open to trading this summer, Jim Bowden of The Athletic speculates.
ANALYSIS
Beeks is one of several veteran relievers who could leave Arizona in the coming weeks via trade since the Diamondbacks don't have a realistic shot at fighting for a playoff berth this season. Beeks is having an outstanding season in 2025, and his 3.13 ERA across 31 appearances would be the second-best mark of his career if he's able to maintain it for the rest of the campaign. He's also sporting a career-best 1.07 WHIP.
