Rest-of-Season Projections
Free of restrictions at camp
Bishop (elbow) reported to spring training this week without any restrictions, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 first-round pick is back to full health after missing the entire 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Once seen as one of the top hitting prospects in the organization, Bishop's star has faded while a slew of injuries have thus far limited him to 134 minor-league games through his first five seasons in the professional ranks. The 25-year-old outfielder still has yet to play above the High-A level, though he could report to Double-A Richmond to open the 2024 campaign if he makes it out of spring training with his health intact.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
It was a roller coaster season for most prospects, but particularly for Bishop, the No. 10 overall pick in 2019. He missed all of summer camp and was a late arrival to the alternate site after getting COVID-19, but made up for lost time during the fall instructional league. Bishop had an OPS north of 1.000 during instructs, finishing second on the team in at-bats behind uber-prospect Marco Luciano. He legged out plenty of doubles and triples -- a sign that he is still a plus runner. The 6-foot-5 lefty-hitting outfielder has the power and speed to go 30/20 at his peak, and his walk rates portend high OBPs. The big question is how much contact he will make and where his batting average will settle. Given his speed and exit velocities, he should run high BABIPs, which is a nice place to start. He could spend most of his age-22/23 season at Double-A, despite having never played at Low-A or High-A.
