Geoff Hartlieb

Hartlieb made his MLB debut in mid-May and spent most of the rest of the year in the big leagues, throwing 35 innings across 29 relief appearances. His FIP was nearly 3.5 runs lower than his ERA, but that's hardly consolation when said ERA comes in at an even 9.00. As with most ERAs that high, quite a bit of bad luck was involved, as he allowed a .411 BABIP. That's not to say he pitched well, however: Statcast gave him an xBA of .297 and an xSLG of .504. Hartlieb's 22.2% strikeout rate and 10.5% walk rate weren't terrible but were both worse than league average. If there's any hope for the 26-year-old's future, it lies in his numbers in 39.2 innings for Triple-A Indianapolis, where he posted a 2.50 ERA and a 30.7% strikeout rate. Until he shows something remotely like that at the big-league level, however, he's not an arm worth keeping an eye on for fantasy owners.
