2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pagan exercised his $8 million player option for 2025 after he missed the first half of last season due to a lat injury. Upon his return, he filled a high-leverage role out of Cincinnati's bullpen, racking up four wins, eight holds and one save across his 38 appearances. While the veteran right-hander's performance declined and his homer-prone tendencies returned (1.4 HR/9), he still managed to produce strikeout and whiff rates that were above league average. Now that Terry Francona is managing the Reds, Pagan may get the opportunity to overtake Alexis Diaz for closing duties, as he's handled the role before (33 career saves) and his career 1.09 WHIP is slightly better. Takes first blown save
Pagan was charged with a blown save in Thursday's 10-inning loss to the Mariners, allowing two runs on two hits in one inning. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
It was a nightmarish outing for Pagan, who was tasked with protecting a two-run lead in the ninth. The right-hander would give up a leadoff homer to Cal Raleigh before Randy Arozarena tied the game with another long ball just two pitches later. Pagan, who converted his previous four save chances prior to Thursday, now sports a 2.89 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB through his first 9.1 innings this year. While Pagan should continue to serve as the Reds' primary closer in the short term, he figures to have a short leash as Alexis Diaz has delivered consecutive scoreless outings in his return from the injured list.

Pagan rebounded in a big way in 2023 with an impressive 2.99 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB over 69.1 innings for Minnesota. The 32-year-old vastly improved his ability to keep the ball inside the park, as his 0.65 HR/9 was the best mark of his career. However, Pagan's home run issues could resurface in his new home park, as the veteran recently joined Cincinnati on a multi-year pact. The right-hander is currently in line for setup duties, but with 32 career saves, he has the experience to occasionally spell closer Alexis Diaz in the ninth inning.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Receiving interest from Reds
The Reds are among the teams showing interest in Pagan, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Pagan would seem to be a poor fit for Great American Ball Park given his extreme flyball tendencies. The 32-year-old is coming off a terrific 2023 season, though, having collected a 2.99 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB over 69.1 frames. He should be able to land a multi-year pact this winter.
