2023 Fantasy Outlook
Green, the son of a former NFL tight end, would be an impressive physical specimen were he following in his father's footsteps on the gridiron, so he is a true rarity in terms of MLB prospects. A 6-foot-3, 225-pound outfielder with 70-grade power and 70-grade speed, Green's raw tools don't come around every decade, let alone every draft. Even so, he fell to the Nationals with the fifth overall pick. He projects as a great defender in center field or right field, thanks to plus-plus speed and a plus arm. If everyone thought he'd be able to hit for a high average against big-league pitching, Green would have been the clear first-overall pick. He played in 12 complex-league games after signing and had two homers, four doubles, one steal and a 21:6 K:BB. He impressed, but also failed to quiet the hit-tool concerns in a brief pro debut. There are plenty of evaluators who do think he'll develop an average hit tool, but given his size at such a young age, it's hard to know for sure how that aspect of his game will progress. Breaking balls down and away will likely always be a weakness, and recently he has struggled against premium velocity. His upside is a plus-running Giancarlo Stanton. He should spend most of 2023 at Single-A.

Still piecing it together
Green "represents possibly the highest-risk, highest-reward prospect in the game," writes Jim Bowden of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Green, the fifth overall pick in the 2022 Draft, is hitting .210 with three home runs and 28 stolen bases through 69 games at Single-A. Bowden notes that "there is way too much swing-and-miss in his game," which is partially confirmed by Green striking out in a whopping 41.5 percent of his 304 plate appearances this season. At 19 years old, Green has a lot to prove at the dish before his base-stealing prowess and elite defense can cement his hype.
