2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hackenberg may not have a true plus pitch or great command, but he has the tools to be a No. 4 or No. 5 starter in the big leagues. The sturdy 6-foot-2, 220-pound righty has a deep pitch mix led by an above-average curveball and a worm-killing low-90s sinker. He had an excellent 53.9 percent groundball rate, which was a top-20 mark among qualified minor-league starters. Hackenberg built up to 129 innings over 25 starts, splitting the year between High-A, Double-A and Triple-A. His run at Double-A was his most successful stint and included a 16-strikeout game and a 23.2 K-BB%. Hackenberg doesn't have a high ceiling on paper, but the No. 5 starter for Atlanta can have mixed-league value in deeper roto formats. He should spend the bulk of the year back at Triple-A, as he's not yet on the 40-man roster. Read Past Outlooks

Shut down at Double-A
Double-A Columbus placed Hackenberg on its 7-day injured list May 15 due to an unspecified injury.
ANALYSIS
Hackenberg has posted a 7.03 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 19:18 K:BB over 24.1 innings in his eight starts on the season, and it's possible that the injury had something to do with his rough performance. Atlanta hasn't provided any word regarding the nature of the injury or when he might return, but Hackenberg could have his workload monitored carefully once he's ultimately cleared to pitch again.
