2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lynch spent a lot of time on the Edward Olivares Memorial Interstate between Kansas City and Omaha again in 2024. He pitched in 162.2 innings between the two cities with over 70 percent of that coming for the Omaha Stormchasers. Lynch, in doing so, is pitching up to his potential because he is the prototypical swing man. His overall numbers were ruined by back-to-back outings in which he gave up 14 runs over 10.2 innings while starting one game and bulking in another, as he otherwise pitched to a 0.55 ERA in his other major league appearances, with 32 strikeouts and six walks in 29.2 innings of work. Lynch really is not needed in the rotation with the full return of Bubic, but could play a key role in the bullpen as a lefty who could fill a Luke Weaver-like role in Kansas City. His migration to a heavier fastball/slider/changeup approach by season's end may be Kansas City telling us it agrees with this suggested career path. Read Past Outlooks

Makes MLB bullpen
Manager Matt Quatraro informed Lynch on Saturday that he made the Royals' Opening Day roster, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Lynch turned in a 6.19 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 16 innings this spring while competing for a spot in Kansas City's rotation. However, the 28-year-old southpaw proved to be much more effective out of the bullpen last season, so the Royals will keep him around for Opening Day and presumably use him in a multi-inning role.

Lynch now has three years of major league experience under his depth, and the overall results do not tell the whole story. His 11-23 career record with a 5.18 ERA and 9.9% K-BB% are tough on the eyeballs, but he has shown improvements at times year over year. His 2023 progress was stunted by shoulder troubles which saw his strikeout rate plummet as his fastball lost nearly two miles an hour in the process. The shining star on his 2023 resume was a changeup he threw exclusively to righties that the league hit .125 against while swinging and missing 35% of the time. Lynch's current value is rock bottom and frankly, still not mixed league viable, but if his shoulder is 100 percent recovered and he can get back some of his lost velocity to pair with that changeup to righties and his slider to lefties, he may finally be able to provide some value to AL-Only fantasy managers this season.
