Shakes off biceps injury
Laweryson (biceps) made his Grapefruit League debut Tuesday in the Twins' 3-3 tie with the Phillies, striking out three over one inning while allowing two earned runs on one hit.
ANALYSIS
Laweryson served up a two-run home run that put the Twins in a 3-0 hole in the top of the seventh, but Minnesota rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to salvage a tie. A 25-year-old right-hander who has yet to reach the majors, Laweryson isn't a serious threat to make the Twins' Opening Day roster, but he at least appears to be healthy entering the 2024 season after he didn't pitch after Aug. 15 of last season due to right biceps tendinitis.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Laweryson split his 2022 season between High- and Double-A and between starting and relieving, thriving at both levels and both roles. He was particularly eye-opening in his 10 starts, posting a 0.84 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 47:13 K:BB over 42.2 innings. The 24-year-old's numbers since turning pro in 2019 have been excellent, but he's often been dismissed by prospect evaluators because he has a funky delivery and ordinary stuff. The Twins figure to give him another shot to start after his strong finish in the role last season, but his ticket to the majors will probably be in relief.
