2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rooker has quickly established himself as one of the top power threats in the league since getting his first full-season look in the majors in 2023, with his 30 home runs last season being his third straight 30-homer campaign. He couldn't quite replicate the .293 average and .927 OPS he posted in 2024 but still finished 2025 with a .262/.335/.479 slash line, 89 RBI and 92 runs while playing in all 162 games. Rooker also cut down on some of the swing-and-miss in his stroke, with his 22.2 percent strikeout rate being an improvement of more than six points. His hard-hit rate dropped five points to 44.5 percent, but he still may have deserved some better results with a .275 xBA and .509 xSLG. Rooker may never fully get back to that level of 2024 production, but the reduced strikeout numbers indicate room for growth from the .814 OPS he posted in 2025. He began last season eligible only as a utility player, but Rooker will begin 2026 with outfield eligibility after making 27 appearances in the field. Read Past Outlooks
Posts third straight 30-homer year
Rooker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-3 win over Boston.
Analysis
That makes it three long balls in Rooker's past five games, and Thursday's blast gave him his third consecutive 30-homer campaign. The slugging outfielder has been an excellent four-category fantasy contributor in 2025, hitting .267 with 87 RBI and 91 runs scored to go with a career-high 40 doubles over 599 at-bats. Rooker has benefitted significantly from seeing around half of his action at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park -- he has an .891 OPS at home versus a .779 OPS on the road.

How does Brent Rooker compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.
* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.

Rooker went from being designated for assignment by the Royals in November of 2022 to becoming a bona fide breakout slugger for the Athletics in 2023. He was one of only 29 major leaguers to reach the 30-homer plateau and he posted the 14th-highest OPS (.817) among all qualified American League hitters. Rooker strikes out often and is probably never going to be a good source for batting average, but his power stroke sure appears to be a bankable asset. He finished in the 93rd percentile last year in barrel percentage and was in the 91st percentile in hard-hit rate. The 29-year-old is going to have to make a lot of noise on his own as part of a mostly punchless Oakland offense, but that poor supporting cast at least assures him everyday at-bats in a fruitful lineup spot.

Will feature in Home Run Derby
Rooker will participate in the 2025 Home Run Derby.
Analysis
Rooker made the 2025 All-Star team as a reserve after being snubbed in 2024. The slugger is on pace to reach 30 homers for a third consecutive season, and he's been asked to participate in the event after saying earlier this month that featuring in it "seems like a really fun time." Rooker will be the Athletics' first player in the event since Matt Olson in 2021.
