Felnin Celesten

19-Year-Old ShortstopSS
Seattle Mariners A
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Injuries have limited Celesten to 32 official games - all in 2024 in the Arizona Complex League - since he signed with Seattle as the top teenage international prospect on Jan. 15, 2023. The other top prospect from that class, Sebastian Walcott of the Rangers, hasn't had his career affected by injuries and just wrapped up a full year at High-A, which illustrates how much developmental time Celesten has missed. It was a serious hamstring strain that cost him the 2023 season and last year he had surgery on a broken hamate in early-August after suffering the injury late in the ACL season. Prior to the injury, Celesten slashed .352/.431/.568 with three home runs, five steals, a .432 BABIP, a 12.5 percent walk rate and a 19.4 percent strikeout rate. A premium athlete with a chance to stick at shortstop, Celesten showed when healthy that he still has a very high ceiling. This will be a big year for the 19-year-old switch hitter, as he'll be making his full-season debut while also attempting to hold up over a full baseball season for the first time. He has a wide range of outcomes from a dynasty value standpoint, as he isn't young enough to maintain his value amid struggles against Single-A pitching, but is talented enough to potentially climb to High-A, or even Double-A during the year.
