Valdez's 2025 season was truncated by a dislocated shoulder in May which required surgery thus ending his season. He was only recently cleared to resume hitting in the offseason, so it is unclear whether he will be ready for camp in February. Shoulder injuries are tough on batters the first year out, and while the injury was to his non-throwing shoulder, it is the back shoulder for his left-handed swing. He is only eligible at first base on draft day, and he was already light on power so 2026 relegates him to reserve NL-Only consideration or draft-and-hold leagues in the end game to see if there is anything left in his bat which has quite honestly not shown much in recent seasons.
