Young began the year with the Cardinals, playing for Triple-A Memphis. He was batting .284/.409/.505 when St. Louis transferred his contract to the Doosan Bears in the Korean Baseball Organization. Young posted a .326/.420/.660 line overseas. The Mets took notice, signing Young to a major league deal. He makes contact at an above average clip but doesn't hit the ball with much authority. The Mets would not have signed Young to an MLB deal if they didn't see something, but it's surely not to be their new regular at first base.
