Dalbec was unable to build on the 114 wRC+ he posted in the first 158 games of his career, though he fanned 35.7 percent of the time in that span. He posted an unsightly 37.9 percent strikeout rate in parts of the next three seasons with the Red Sox before the club finally cut bait late last season. Dalbec recorded a palatable .881 OPS over the last three years with Triple-A Worcester, but it came with a 34.6 percent strikeout rate. Dalbec signed a minor league contract with the White Sox where a strong spring could land a job as a reserve corner infielder.
