We do not often see teams sending players back from which they came, yet Colorado did just that after watching Jones's 2024 backslide from his 2023 greatness sending Jones back to Cleveland in a deal for Tyler Freeman just before the start of the regular season. The homecoming for Freeman did not stop the season long slump from 2024 as Jones essentially picked up where he left off without the comforts of Coors Field to help his batting average. Any manager using Jones against a lefty pitcher should be fined in Kanagroo Court as he had one extra base hit against a lefty all season while posting an unsightly .184/.262/.197 triple-slash line with a 37.6% strikeout rate against them. His numbers against righties were not much better, and now Jones is essentially best used as a defensive replacement in right field because he has a cannon of a throwing arm. All this to say that 2023 is further in the rear view mirror than it looks, and Jones is truly only draftable in 50-round draft and holds because he might still find some streaks of success in a platoon, but his everyday at bats are a thing of the past.
