Bloss is poised to return from May 2025 UCL surgery sometime this summer, but the Jays have enough starting pitching depth that we may not see Bloss in the big-league rotation this year. Part of the package of prospects Toronto received from Houston in 2024 for Yusei Kikuchi, Bloss turns 25 in June and has yet to have sustained success in games since the trade. He logged a 6.91 ERA and 7.6 K-BB% in eight starts at Triple-A Buffalo in 2024 and a 6.46 ERA and 9.6 K-BB% in a return there last year before needing surgery. At his best, Bloss sits 93-95 mph (touches 97) with his fastball while getting excellent extension and mixing in a variety of average secondary pitches. This is Bloss' final year with a minor-league option, and it would make sense for him to spend most, or all of the season, building back up in the Triple-A rotation, barring a barrage of injuries in the majors.
