Thorpe is best known for being part of the Padres return for Juan Soto and the White Sox package for Dylan Cease. The South Siders promoted Thorpe from Double-A Birmingham in early June of 2024. He logged nine starts before being placed on the IL with a flexor strain. While rehabbing, it was discovered that Thorpe had a bone spur in his elbow, requiring season-ending surgery. He'll reportedly be fully healthy for spring training where he'll audition for the White Sox rotation. Thorpe's 2.1 K-BB percentage in 44.1 big league innings indicates he has work to do to win a job, but his minor league track record suggests he can succeed.
