After working exclusively as a starter during his 2022 rookie season, Brieske has morphed into a useful swing man for the Tigers the last two seasons. In 2024, he made 46 appearances, which included 12 starts as an opener, and he logged 67.2 innings overall. Brieske posted a solid 3.59 ERA and struck out 69 batters. The righty also managed six holds, four wins and a save in his hybrid role. While Brieske's ability to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen or as a starter is valuable for Detroit, his lack of a regular starting spot does limit his fantasy ceiling to some degree. The 26-year-old could potentially make his way back into the rotation at some point, as the Tigers have several unproven options outside of staff ace Tarik Skubal. Until that happens, Brieske will remain difficult to count on for consistent production out of the bullpen, unless of course he starts seeing more save opportunities in a higher-leverage relief role.
