Winans turned in a stellar season at Triple-A Gwinnett, posting a 2.85 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 113:36 K:BB over 126.1 innings. His performance earned him his first looks in the big leagues as a spot starter for Atlanta. The results did not translate, though he struck out more than four batters for every one he walked in the majors. Winans has four pitches -- changeup, sinker, slider, four-seamer -- and he threw all of them at least 20 percent of the time in the big leagues last year. The changeup and slider in particular have shown good swing-and-miss potential. A 17th-round pick by the Mets in 2018, Winans is already a success story having reached the major leagues. While the right-hander projects to open the year back at Triple-A, he will likely be at or near the top of the list of replacement candidates when Atlanta's starting depth is inevitably tested.
